In Lossless or above, it should continue to be CBR and keep 320Kbps. If not, I will double check on that then. Like I said, I turned OFF everything, these are the settings to make this test: WiFi Sound Quality = Hi-Res OGG = OFF Force Seekable Flag = OFF Disable Replay Gain = ON

I tested the "Highest Quality" option which is supposed to be 320Kbps with a FLAC song, turns out it's transcoding to VBR instead of CBR, so I hope you check that out. I also hope 320Kbps MP3s don't get re-encoded to MP3 again when using the Hi-Res quality option because the song could loose a bit of quality right?. When seek option is ON, Highest Quality outputs 320Kbps MP3 if OGG is turned OFF. When seek option is OFF, Highest Quality outputs VBR MP3 at VBR highest quality possible.

Why? It wasn't working like that in previous versions. I don't want to lose quality with 320Kbps MP3s if I decide to turn OFF the seek option at any given moment. Are you going to fix it? Edited by user Monday, September 14, 2020 12:20:39 PM(UTC)

I don't think that's a problem if all my music or other user's music were all in FLAC but transcoding MP3s into the same bitrate or other bitrates it really affects the quality.

I mean, I know that if I select the "Optimal quality and file size" option and play a 320Kbps MP3 while using mobile data, the quality of the audio will be reduced for the sake of saving data on my plan, but playing the same song when using WiFi and the "Hi-Res" option selected should NOT affect the original file at all as long as the other options are turned OFF. Thank you anyway for your attention, I really appreciate what you've done with the app, but I really don't want my MP3s to be transcoded all the time. Are you going to fix it? Yes. I am working on a Server part where it will send original FLAC or MP3 if ReplayGain is 0dB or turned off, and quality is higher or Equal to Lossless. |
Thank you.

Oh!, why I didn't come up with such a good idea?
So is ReplayGain the only one who modify the files right?
I thought the seek option also did something there.

That was implemented some years ago, but older version of Android were not very friendly with some types of MP3 files, so that code was commented out and force conversion all the time to bring MP3 files to the same denominator. Now, I am going to enable it. I am just testing with tons of MP3 and FLAC files to make sure that is not the case anymore with latest version of Android 5.0 and up. Hello, I installed the new version of the server and songs are finally copied directly when ReplayGain is OFF!.
I have one question and one suggestion though:
Question:
Why the server doesn't install in the "Program Files" folder as the rest of applications?
Suggestion:
The server needs to notify about new updates, I found out because I opened the forum, otherwise I wouldn't have known.
Thank you so much for fixing this ππΌππΌ, now it's the notification issue's turn... π

You would see a popup in Muzecast app upon opening it from closed state.
Also, you would see and link in Configurator.

Thank you.

Muzecast stores quite a lot of information under installation folder. If installed in Program Files folder, Windows might block any writes by an application running as a Service to any subfolder under Program Folders. Windows gives an option for application to write application data in AppData folder under User account, but the problem is that Muzecast might work under SYSTEM account while running as a Service and User account while running as a Win GUI app, such as Configurator. That would create confusion where data should be stored. For example you can run libscan.exe from console or it started by Muzecast Service under SYSTEM account. |
Thank you.

BTW, the same transcoding logic applied to any files played from Cloud Drives. |

I didn't know the app displayed a notification, I've never seen it but I'll keep an eye on the next server update.
Thank you for clarifying both concerns.

Good evening.
I forgot to ask you if the change you made also applies to OneDrive/Dropbox or is it only for the server?
Thank you.
