sort albums by release date (including month and day)

I want to be able to sort albums by release date. Right now I sort by "date added" which is mostly displays albums released this month that I have acquired but it also displays old albums I've also added.
is there a way to sort by actual release date? I don't want to look at January's albums when I'm in the mood for the freshest music in December so I don't really use the "year released".
does anyone know what sort by "date mixed" even does? it seems to be a mix of old and new albums.

Sort by date mixed, that is the date when you Created a mix by that album, or artist, or a song. |
