Installed the server on a WIN7 PC, and connection status say "OK (Proxy Mode)".
Total songs reported as 25278, somgs to analyze about 7000.
Scan mode is normal, number of threads 2.

After 15 hours only 15% processed. Is this normal ?
why is the server connected in Proxy Mode ?

Scan can be stopped at any time. Percentage is for song, which left to be scanned.
For example, you have let's say 40000 songs, where Songs to Analyze are 10000.
When HomeDJ shows 25% complete, it means that out of 10000 songs 2500 are already analyzed.

Library scan can be stopped at any time as long as total songs is recognized. Once Total number of songs is recognized, they can be accessed and played. Additional scanning is to analyze songs to be used for Mixes.

Thank you.

When HomeDJ connected in Proxy Mode, HomeDJ Server will work without firewall configuration and there is no need to open TCP port, and have Inbound connection. Some ISPs prohibit to have any kind of Inbound connection.

In Proxy Mode, HomeDJ will work only in Outbound connection by opening TCP tunnel to HomeDJ Central server and accepting commands from though tunnel. When song has to be streamed, it will be sent via this tunnel and that stream will be redirected Android device directly.

In that case Android device connects not to your Home Computer, but instead to HomeDJ Central server via port 80 and waits for any data sent through this tunnel.
Thank you.

Is it preferred to setup direct connection and if so what is the procedure to change the connection mode from proxy to direct ?

Preferred is direct. There would be no extra hope for file to travel, therefor response would be faster.

If HomeDJ failed to configure firewall automatically, it will work in Proxy mode.

You would have to configure your firewall manually.

Please refer to this site for firewall configuration:

http://portforward.com/

Thank you.

I already configured the router manually and defined port forwarding rule for the port defined in the network tab to be forwarded to the IP where the server is running.
This did not help even after restarting the PC still connected in PROXY mode

Open HomeDJ configurator.
Select "Startup" tab.

What is startup mode?
Is it: When you login to your computer, or
When computer starts?
Thank you.

It is set to when I logon to windows.
I tried to change it to the second option and hit apply but it does not apply.
Next time I open the configurator it is set again to the first option.
I'm running it as administrator.

Btw, every time I open the configurator there is a .NET error and I hit "Continue" to get to the main screen
Here are the error details:

To enable just-in-time (JIT) debugging, the .config file for this

The application must also be compiled with debugging

For example:

<configuration>
<system.windows.forms jitDebugging="true" />
</configuration>

When JIT debugging is enabled, any unhandled exception
will be sent to the JIT debugger registered on the computer
rather than be handled by this dialog box.

Right-mouse click on HomeDJ Configurator Icon.
From popup menu select:
"Run As Administrator"

Then you should be able to apply settings in startup mode.
Thank you.

No, no such file exists in the HomeDJ folder.

I did another install on a WIN7/X32 PC and not getting the NET error.
The file you mentioned does exist.

I can change the server startup option on the 2ed PC

Still no direct connection, I used PFPortCheck to verify the port is open
for both TCP & UDP.

It could be the case where the port number you have is blocked by your ISP or by network hubs which are on the way from HomeDJ to your computer.
Try to change it to port 80 if you are not running Web Server on your home computer.
Thank you.

I tried port 80 and still only Proxy mode connection.
Also disabled the local firewall on my PC but it didn't help

HomeDJ did not report that port 80 was used.
Did you change port number in the Network Tab on HomeDJ and clicked OK?
Thank you.

I changed the port number to 80, but I don't see an OK button anywhere on that screen
so no I didn't click OK.

The current port number is: 17829, Do you see it being used ?

Oh, yes, not OK, "Close" button.

It does not look like port change happened.

Could you try again to change to 80 and click "Close" button?

Thank you.
Thank you.
