Hello,
I wish to migrate my homedj library to a new server. The music will remain in it's location on a NAS. I just want to avoid recompiling the library on a new server.
Is this possible?
Thanks!

Yes it is possible if you keep root of the folder the same.
For example: You have HomeDJ Server installed on PC 1 where folder you added was "D:\MyMusic HomeDJ will consider root as MyMusic. If you migrating to a new PC 2 and now you have to add it from NAS and accessing NAS via Share \\MyNAS\MyFiles\MyMusic HomeDJ will still consider root as MyMusic.
Other option: If you had your music on the same NAS for PC 1 and it is going to be the same path to your NAS for PC 2 HomeDJ will scan it very quickly and will not perform heavy analisys.
Another option is to copy HomeDJ installation folder from PC1 to PC2. For example if you have HomeDJ installed on PC1 to folder C:\HomeDJ, you could just copy C:\HomeDJ folder to PC2 C:\HomeDJ folder. Then run HomeDJInstall.exe to Install the HomeDJ Software, which will only install required services. This option could be used if both PC1 and PC2 accessing your music using the same path to your NAS, for example \\MYNAS\MyMusic.
Worst case scenario, that if HomeDJ still have to fingerprint (analyze) your music, it will retrieve music fingerprints from cache, which was stored when analysis were performed on your PC1, which means that scan will complete much faster.
What scan option do you use? Full, Normal, or Fast?

Hello Oleg,
Appreciate the quick and detailed reply.
I performed a full scan option as I wanted the full functionality of HomeDJ.
I will copy the entire C:\HomeDJ folder from PC1 to PC2 and rerun the install. My NAS path will not change.
Thank you!

Hello Oleg,
Just wanted to let you know that copying the homedj folder from my old pc to new and then running the installation again worked perfectly! All my scans already existed and did not need to rerun!
Thank you!
