It does not look like port change happened.

Could you try again to change to 80 and click "Close" button?

Thank you.

I changed again to 80 and clicked "CLOSE" do you see a port change event now ?

In the router is it required to forward the port for UDP as well ?

Only TCP forward. UDP is not used.

It says that port 80 is closed. Not sure why as the rule in the router is defined same as my IP camera which can be accessed from the outside and is not blocked (port 8090)

Ok, Let's try this:

Start HomeDJ on your Android device. Make sure your Android Devices is connected via WiFi to your home network.

After HomeDJ Player starts, go to Settings->My Home Computer.
What Service URL is showing?
Thank you.

Its interesting that PFPortCheck does say that port 17829 is open on my PC

That shows that HomeDJ Service on that port is running and while you on local WiFi, you will be connected to your Home Computer directly without Proxy. It is only not accessible directly from the Web. Hmmm.

PFPortCheck might not report properly, because it is probably does not go over the web for this. Online tools like I sent you are more accurate.

What kind of Router do you have?
Thank you.

Why don't you like Proxy mode? It would guarantee that you will be able to access you music from anywhere in the world no matter what ISP you would be using has policies. For example when I traveled to another country, ISP did not allow to connect with anything except port 80. So Proxy will always use standard port 80.
While you are local to your network over WiFi you will be connected directly.
Thank you.

The router is NETGEAR VDSL modem/router VEGN2610.

I can't figure out why the FOSCAM camera port is forwarded and the HomeDJ port isn't although I defined them to the router exactly the same.

I just had the impression that direct connection would work better since it requires no intermediate agents. otherwise it seems to work fine in Proxy mode.

I did additional testing to figure out if the port is really forwarded to my PC.

Installed the port listener tool: http://www.rjlsoftware.c...re/utility/portlistener/
configured it to listen on port 80.

then used http://www.yougetsignal.com/tools/open-ports/ to test port 80.

It was found OPEN.

so there is no problem with my router or ISP or Firewall.

The HomeDJ server fails to connect to the port for some reason.

Ok.

I was able to telnet to this port 80.

Now close this utility and change HomeDJ to use Port 80 and restart HomeDJ. It should restart automatically if you change the port in HomeDJ Configurator.

and I will try to telnet it again.
Thank you.

Ok.

I see I cannot telnet HomeDJ on this port. Logs shows that HomeDJ Service started and hosting services on port 80, but for some reason not visible to the Internet. I guess you mentioned that your Windows Firewall is OFF for now, but still it is not working.
I would have to research on this, why this is happening.
But a few more questions:
1. Is you Windows Firewall turned OFF. If it is ON, could you check if process Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.exe is not in Blocked list for Inbound connection.
2. When you open IE, go to Tools-Internet Options->Connection->LAN Settings. Does it show any proxy configuration?

Another thing we could try is to see if SYSTEM account is prohibited to have inbound connection on your computer. For that we do the following:
1. Open Services and Stop HomeDJ Service. Go to Start->Control Panel->Services. Find HomeDJ Service in the list and stop it.
2. Open Command Prompt as Adminstrator (right mouse click on Command Prompt icon and select "Run as Adminstrator")
3. In command prompt navigate to the location where you installed HomeDJ. If it is on C drive, do "CD HomeDJ", if it is on another drive, first change to that drive.
4. Type command: Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server and hit enter.
Once you do that let's see if it will connect this way.

Let me know if you ok with instructions.
Thank you.

No events were blocked by the firewall in the last hour. (I checked the log)
No proxy is defined.

I will try the test you suggested.

Finally was able to connect in DIRECT mode after shutting down the Firewall (using Bitdefender)
Maybe I need to define a special firewall rule for HomeDJ server.

Thank you for the logs.

I do not see any specific issue with the logs.

But anyway, I am attaching a file "Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.txt"
That file is a zip.
Once you download this attachment, change extension of this file from txt to zip.
Backup a copy of Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.exe file located in your HomeDJ folder.
Then extract file from Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.zip. This zip has one file: Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.exe. Extract it to HomeDJ folder to replace the one you have and jsut backed up.

The only thing I changed is how it starts internal Service host to see if this is going to help.

File Attachment(s):
Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.txt (1,027kb) downloaded 1 time(s).
