Muzecast doesn't seem to direct play 44,1Khz/16bit FLAC files, I was inspecting the cache folder and I found that they are getting transcoded instead of getting copied unmodified and played directly when cache is ON.

I wonder why?

My current environment for FLAC files is:

- "original" is selected in "WiFi Sound Quality".

- "FLAC 16 bit 48Khz" is selected in "FLAC support".

- "Force seekable flag" is turned OFF.

Is this a bug?

If ReplayGain is enabled, then files will be normalized in volume based on ReplayGain detected during scan. Transcoding in that case does not reduce any quality.

There are 2 types of ReplayGain:
1. Album
2. Track.

If Album ReplayGain is selected to be applied all the time, then each track will be normalized based on that track album average replaygain.
If Album ReplayGain is not selected, each track will be normalized based on it's own replay gain value.
If tracks are played in track order for an Album (gapless), the each track will be normalized based on album ReplayGain value.

To enable/disable ReplayGain: Muzecast Settings->Advanced->Disable Replay Gain
To set Album/Track Replay Gain: Muzecast Settings->Advanced->Use Album Replay Gain
Thank you.

In that case I'll have to wait until you fix ReplyGain to verify that, because as I said in my other topic, when ReplayGain is turned OFF songs are still normalized when cache is ON and empty.

Now that ReplayGain is finally fixed, I proceed to test the app to see if files were copied untouched or re-encoded.

Here's the settings to make this test:

Cache = ON

WiFi sound quality: Original

FLAC support = 24bit/192Khz

ReplayGain = OFF

Force seekable FLAC = OFF

I started to play a FLAC song, once the file was downloaded to my phone I copied the file and moved it to my computer, I then compared the original file with the one in my phone and I noticed the file seems to be re-enconded instead of copying the file directly:

The file size of the original is 17.496 KB

The file size of the one created by Muzecast is 17.432 KB

MP3s are also getting transcoded.

Muzecast should copy the untouched file directly.

I 'm starting to suspect that the "FLAC Support" option is the reason why songs always transcode even if the quality selected is the same as the song currently playing.

Cool!, can't wait to test it once I receive the new update of the app.

You do not need a updated app for that. It will work with existing. That was server issue.

Just make sure you clean cache in Muzecast Settings, so it will remove badly encoded files from your phone.
Thank you.

All right, I just made a test and though the song was finally downloaded in its original quality I had frequent pauses, it's like if the buffer can't keep up with the download, I wonder why at the bottom right of the statusbar the word "buffering" always says 0%, it's like it wasn't working, the song seems to be playing with the download instead of being played from a buffer while it gets downloaded, I have 20 Mbps internet speed so this shouldn't happen.

Yes, OneDrive is not very stable in hi speed download. I have OneDrive and sometimes synching takes too long where I see OneDrive download or upload speeds can drop to 200 kbps.

I never had issues with Dropbox. It was always at the highest ISP speed.
Thank you.

I see...

Speaking of cloud storages, will you ever going to implement Google Drive as an option?
