Would it be possible to retain the original bit depth and sample rates when streaming lossless files as FLAC, rather than transcoding to 16/44? Or have it as an option in the stream settings.
Regards,
Gary

There is already some work is happening on this. Option even might include to keep 5.1 channels if present. |
Thank you.

I am testing HiRes FLAC support and looks like older (v1) Chromecast devices do not support 24 bit audio. Newer devices do support it. |
Thank you.

Hi,
The new version seems to be fine when playing high-res FLAC files direct but when transcoding ALAC to FLAC they seem to be limited to 16/48 (might be 24/48, I can't tell from my DAC)
Regards,
Gary

Make sure you have Streaming Server 6.2.1 and player 7.0.0. Prior version 6.2.0 had a bug streaming at 192Khz. 6.2.1 corrected it, but if file was already cached on the device, it will be 44.1Khz instead of 192Khz. Clear cache and re-stream the file. What is sampling rate and bit depth of your ALAC file? I will try to get HiRes ALAC file and test again if Muzecast properly reads codec information from ALAC file. What is the settings for FLAC quality in Streaming Settings of Muzecast? Edited by user Tuesday, January 31, 2017 3:46:54 AM(UTC)

Hi,
Thanks for the prompt reply.
I've got the latest software versions running on both my phone and PC.
The ALAC files I tried were 24/192 files from Van Halen's debut album and Tres Hombres by ZZ Top. A 24/192 FLAC file played perfectly on the Chromecast at 24/96 (the maximum that the CCA supports)
I tried the settings at both 24/192 and 24/96 both with and without Exoplayer.
Cheers,
Gary

I will try to create ALAC file with 192/24 and see if metadata is read properly. If you can share one of your ALAC files for testing, I would appreciate. |
Thank you.

Issue is fixed and new Streaming Server 6.2.2 has been published. Please note that prior ALAC files which were down sampled to 44.1 and cached on your device need to be removed (clear cache) in order new files to be cached. |
Thank you.
