I am unable to uninstall HomeDJ, either through Install of Muzecast or through Windows Control Panel. I get a message "The older version of Muzecast Music Streaming Server cannot be removed. Contact your technical support group." I get the same prompt to find the file, it shows "http//www.homedj.net/download/" but cannot find the msi.

How do I uninstall HomeDJ so I can upgrade to Muzecast?

Please let me know if you still need to uninstall older version, because records indicate that Muzecast installed on your computer is running and it is connected.

You have Muzecast streaming server version 5.0.0 installed.
Thank you.

I am curious if there is a Muzecast Configuration Utility? I cannot find one, but in the folder "HomeDJ" where I tried to install Muzecast, there is the "Vorlan.HomeDJ.Configurator.exe". And it shows a 10/11/2014 date, although I tried to install it yesterday. When I run that HomeDJ config opens and tells me that there is a "New version 5.0.0 of HomeDJ Streaming Server is available. Do you want to download it now?"

So if I have Muzecast installed, how can I tell and is there a configuration interface?

While installing Muzecast, did you select HomeDJ folder you had HomeDJ installed in the past, or you installed it in C:\Muzecast folder?

Configuration Utility shortcut should be on your desktop and in Start->All Programs->Muzecast
Thank you.

Well, I tried in both C://HomeDJ and C://Muzecast -- as I continued to be told that the installation was not successful.

Currently in the c://Muzecast folder I have the following:

install.log
MuzecastInstall.log
stop.txt
TBD5401.tmp
TBD5440.tmp
Vorlan.Muzecast.InstallerLib.InstallState

While in C://HomeDJ
I have what appears to be the complete installation. Although the only files with a date of yesterday when I tried the installation are the:
install.log
Vorlan.Muzecast.InstallerLib.InstallState
ws.txt 0 bytes
StreamStatus.txt 0 bytes

The following are the contents of the install.log

Do you see HomeDJ or Muzecast items in Add/Remove Programs?

Let's try to reboot to make sure no files are busy by some other processes.

If you see Muzecast or HomeDJ or both in Add/Remove programs, try to uninstall each of them.

And then start Muzecast install.

Let's also try to start Muzecast installs in Administrative mode:
Right mouse click on MuzecastInstall.exe and select "Run as administrator".
Thank you.

Could you still run Muzecast installer to install Muzecast? If it is already installed, uninstall it and run it again.

Make sure you point to C:\HomeDJ folder instead of C:\Muzecast to override old files with Muzecast new files.

Thank you.

I see HomeDJ in Add/Remove Programs. There is no Muzecast listed. I have rebooted. I have tried to reinstall HomeDj. I get to the point, in either install or uninstall and since it cannot find a copy of HomeDjSetup.msi (and I have search my entire harddrive for the file). The uninstall or Install stops and can go no further.

What is curious is that it prompts me for a location of the file and in Use Source: is "http://www.homedj.net/Download/". I am not able to get past this either installing or uninstalling the programs. I get a window with "The installation source for this product is not available. Verify that the source exists and that you can access it."

It still works. I can run the HomeDJ Configurator (4.5.4) and shows service is running and connection status is Green. I have Muzecast on my tablet and it seems to interface fine.

I just am not able to upgrade to Muzecast streaming server.

The installation file is not MSI. It is EXE file, which you can download from http://www.muzecast.com/download.aspx

Once you start Installation of Muzecast Streaming Server, Select the path where you had HomeDJ previously installed.

It will upgrade it to Muzecast.

Thank you.

I know what an installation file is. I know what an .msi file is. I have done exactly what you suggest in the last post. When I try to install either product now, during the installation process it attempts to uninstall the previously installed program. I then run into the messages I have included above and the INSTALLATION /UNINSTALL FAILS! It will NOT progress until I have a .msi to uninstall the previous install.

Unless you have a manual method to bypass the .msi, it will not uninstall or upgrade your software. EVERY TIME I HAVE TRIED TO INSTALL THE NEW SOFTWARE, it fails. I have tried in the double-digits to uninstall/install Muzecast, HomeDJ. I have done everything you have suggested in prior posts.

Does your installation package (the .exe) attempt to uninstall the previous configuration? When it does, does the code look for the .msi? I am assuming it does as it comes up EVERY TIME looking for the .msi. When I cannot tell the install/uninstall where to find the .msi. FAILS.

Sorry. I am a little frustrated. I love the HomeDJ/Muzecast system. I will continue as is and not gain any fixes, enhancements, new features, etc, simply because the program does not upgrade as it cannot uninstall.

Please, just answer this question. Does your software use the Windows/Microsoft install process? If yes, your code requires the .msi, right?

I do not have that on my computer anywhere for your software.

Is there a manual method to uninstall?

The executable file http://www.muzecast.com/...load/MuzecastInstall.EXE integrates MSI in it. Once you start it, it should not uninstall prior version, instead it will override/upgrade existing files if you select the same installation folder.

Yes, it is using standard Windows Installation process and executable extracts MSI from itself automatically and executes it.

This is where you can find older version of HomeDJ Setup MSI (4.5.4)
http://www.homedj.net/do...ad/4.5.4/HomeDJSetup.msi

If you can, could you send me via email screenshot of the error you are getting when trying to install Muzecast, also if you can send me error or warning from installation recorded in Windows Event Viewer (Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Event Viewer)

Thank you.
