Sorry if this question has been asked.

I currently have the Muzecast client connecting directly to my server through my home ip address and port forwarding on my router.

When I connect to a VPN I am assigned a new IP address. Would I use this to connect the client or would I have to use proxy mode?

It is possible to add a static route from my router to another ip address on my server but since the ip address of my client device may be changing I would not know the destination ip so a static router may not be possible.

If I run my server behind a VPN, what would I need to do to get it to work?

Thanks in advance

I am not sure you can open port on VPN server, unless you are administrator of that VPN.

I would suggest to un-check the box in Muzecast Configurator Network tab "Enable Direct connection" to let Muzecast work in Relay (Proxy) mode.
Thank you.

The particular VPN I plan to use is NordVPN. They offer good prices and speeds but no, they do not offer port forwarding. There are others that do like Private Internet Access. In addition, the IP addresses they assign to you are random and change every time you login. You can pay extra for a dedicated ip but I don't think I will do that. There may be other ways to get it to work, but I guess I will have to go back to Proxy Mode. By the way do you host the proxy on your server? Just curious.

It is not really a proxy mode in Muzecast. It is called Relay. All communications with Muzecast Streaming Server are relayed via Muzecast Central Server.
Thank you.
