First of all I love Muzecast ! Works great with Android Auto.
I do have one issue, my genres within the app are not the same as my tags. For example my entire Queen collection has the genre of Rock but in Muzecast when I click on Genre on the wall it has Queen under unknown. When I select Queen on Artist Albums it shows 21 albums -UNKNOWN but if I select one of the individual albums they all show Rock except for one album. I tried re-tagging that one album but that did not help.
I use J River to organize my library and to tag and I have a total of 55 Genres but in Muzecast it show 101 Genres.
Where is Muzecast getting the Genres from ?

Could you check files for this album you have: News of the World

Probably files for this album do not have Genre Tag. All other Albums have proper Genre: ROCK. That is why Queen appears under UNKNOWN genre as well as under ROCK genre.
Thank you.

Yes I checked the files. I tried changing the tag to something else then saved them then I changed them back to rock but Muzecast still shows the genre as unknown.
I have others that are off too. Where does the genre info come from within the app ? LIke I said my music library has a total of 55 genres but in Muzecast it has 101 genres.
Thanks

I've spent the last couple of days correcting the genre fields in iTunes but the genres imported into Muzecast bear no resemblance to those I input.

I will double check the lagorithm of Genre extraction and will let you know if I find a problem and apply a fix to it. Most likely the issue on my side at the central server.
Thank you.

Metadata sent from your library still shows "Unknown" for album "News of the World". Could you send me just one file from this album and I will check if ID3Tag is updated and I will check what version of this ID3Tag. You can send it via email.
Thank you.

There is a separate separation of Genres using "/" (forward-slash) to make each part of it as a separate Genre. In the next release of Muzecast Streaming Server, I will remove that separation. Also upcoming release will read new tag for Album Artist called "BAND", which is used for new FLAC/APE files based on new standard.

For example Genre "Soundtrack/Rock" was separated on 2 separate Genre: Soundtrack and Rock. First one out of this sequence was used as a main Genre for the song. New way it will not separate that Genre on 2 and song will continue to have Genre defined as "Soundtrack/Rock".

All these changes will require Folder Rescan and rebuild internal database of Muzecast Streaming Server.

I'd kind of guessed that may be the case and changed all my genres to have a "-" instead of a "/", which seems (for the most part) to have solved the problem. There are a couple of niggles with it but nothing I can't live with for now.

Sorry I missed this post. I thought I was getting email notifications when a post happens but I didn't get any emails.

Anyway, do you still want a file ?

Thanks

Yes. Just one file from this album where genre still reported as UNKNOWN. You can send it to my email or via DropBox.
Thank you.

The file you sent to be has a good Genre Tag. I tested that file using test instance of Muzecast and it was scanned as ROCK and not as UNKNOWN.
Did you try to update genre tag for this album and if yes, did the software, which you used to update tag information in your library updates timestamp for the file or it leaves it unchanged. If Timestamp is not changed, Muzecast will not read any changes, because it will consider that file unchanged and will not spend extra time to read tags again.
Thank you.
