Back in the release notes of version 3.4.1 (3/19/13) the facility to override Service URL was announced.
I can not get this to work. (I'm currently on server 3.1.28 and HomeDJ 3.4.7)
I am very familiar with port mapping on my router and use it successfully for XBMC, MythWeb, VNC remote etc.
Yet I can't get it to work with HomeDJ
On the "Service ULR Overide (Advanced)" screen I enter either my public IP address or my domain name.
I then get:
"Validating connection please wait"
After about a minute I get a screen saying "
"Connection Change Failed"

"Your home computer cannot be contacted using URL you provided.
Checklist:
Is HomeDJ Streaming Server running?
Is Firewall Port Forward Rule set for port: 23458?
Is Local WiFi Mode Enabled in HomeDJ Configurator?"

[the answer to these questions is yes]

I then try changing it back to http://108.2.69.133/HomeDJ/RelayService.svc but that also fails with the above message.
I have to shut down HomeDJ and restart it again to get it to reset back to the original setting.

Can you verify that this feature is working and possibly suggest where I can look to troubleshoot it?
Thanks

EDIT: P.S. I have a fixed public IP address (not dynamic) if that helps

It looks like your computer is still connected using Relay (Proxy).

UnCheck the box "Do not configure firewall". Tick it OFF.

Leave "Enable Local WiFi Mode" ON.

When you enter Internet Address or IP in Service URL override just enter name or IP like this:
123.244.12.33 - without prefix http and without suffix for port number;
or like this
www.mycomp.com

Thanks for your quick response.
I have done as you suggested but I'm sorry to say that I still get the same result.

Just published new version 3.1.29 of HomeDJ Streaming Server. It might fix the issue. I am just guessing, because I was not able to reproduce the problem.
Thank you.

Please check, you might have Internet Security software installed, which might block ports as well.
Thank you.

Problem Solved!
Hi Thanks for your email.
The "Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.exe process" exception in Windows Firewall
appears twice (should it be there twice?)
The “Home/Work (Private)” boxes were not ticked. (see image below)
After ticking them I was able to successfully override the Service URL.
Thanks for your assistance.
Please note, this is still version 3.1.28 of the server, I have not tried it yet with 3.1.29
