Hi there,

I upgraded to 5.3.1 on my server (XP) and now on startup, the Muzecast server never starts. I can start i manually via Vorlan.HomeDJ.Server.exe in the HomeDJ directory, but how do I start it properly so I don't have a cmd window open?

Thanks for your time!

What the startup option you selected when you installed Muzecast/HomeDJ? Is it "When computer boots" or "When you login to your windows account"?

Did you install upgrade into the same folder where prior version was installed?

If startup option is "When login to windows", does "Startup" folder in All Programs has an item: Muzecast Startup Service?
If startup option is "When computer starts", does Services have item "Muzecast Service"?
Thank you.

I left it at the recommended setting. This means I should have a service registered, correct? The only thing in the startup folder was the configurator item, but that's not starting the server.

If you open Services (Start->Control Panel->Administrative Tools->Services) do you see Muzecast Service in the list of Services?
If yes, what is startup mode for this service? Is it Automatic or Automatic (Delayed)?
If it is Delayed, it might start after 2-3 minutes after computer boots.

Also log records indicate, that you are connected. Do you still have problem streaming?
Thank you.

The Muzecast service is located in my services. It's set to Automatic and is pointing to "C:\Program Files\HomeDJ\Vorlan.HomeDJ.WinSrv.exe". 10 minutes after boot the service is still not started. If I start it via the services panel, it starts fine.

You're seeing me connected because I've been executing "C:\Program Files\HomeDJ\Vorlan.HomeDJ.WinSrv.exe" which is opening up a CMD window. I'd like it to start automatically and quietly again.

Do you keep you computer logged on or auto login after it boots?

Also try to perform disk defrag. Service startup might be timing out due to high fragmentation of the disk and XP just does not have enough time to start this service.
Thank you.

Tried defrag but issue persisted. Ended up resolving by changing the startup to when user logs in.

Thanks!
